Everyone knows the challenges of digitizing heterogeneous holdings, especially fragile, historical documents: Digitizing requires special care and quality, but this often comes at the expense of productivity, since different material usually requires different scanning systems.

With the hybrid scanning workstation, book2net therefore combines the advantages of two “scanning worlds” in a unique and convenient way: contactless, gentle digitization by planetary book scanners for fragile or bound documents and the productivity of document feed scanners for the fast digitization of loose sheet collections. This makes our hybrid system particularly suitable for the requirements of extensive retro-digitization projects in archives and digitization centers.

Documents of the most varied formats, materials and states of preservation, such as certificates, letters, carbon copies, photos, newspaper clippings, or even small objects such as seals or medals, can be digitized simultaneously and efficiently with the utmost care and quality.

Depending on your requirements, you can combine various models of our book2net book scanners with our specially designed high-performance SCAMIG feed scanners to create a workstation that is networked by joint scanning software and conveniently controlled from a PC workstation. Together with specially designed, height-adjustable tables, you will get an ergonomic seated workstation that allows both devices to be operated comfortably in turn. This guarantees a smooth and ergonomic work process.

Gentle and efficient digitization of sensitive documents with the new ULTRA LIGHT A2+

Specially designed for digitizing archival materials, the ULTRA LIGHT easily scans stapled originals, fragile or damaged documents, photos and bound originals up to A2+ size and 5mm thick. The self-opening glass plate opens automatically after each scan and can also be locked at a 90° angle to work without glass plate, if required.

Thanks to the integrated high-resolution CMOS camera with a depth of field of 8 cm, even small objects, seals or coins can be digitized with pin-sharp clarity. The spring-loaded table, flexibly adapting to your originals over the entire surface, provides unique support.

With a scanning time of just 0.3 seconds and a processing time of 2.2 seconds including storage, the ULTRA LIGHT offers you unrivaled productivity. This allows you to achieve your goals with the necessary quality and care, even for extensive projects.

High performance for loose documents

Fast, enduring and reliable – with up to 210 documents per minute, the book2net SCAMIG 210 guarantees a reliably high throughput. With the paper-friendly, patented belt transport, even the most sensitive documents are transported safely. 5 independent ultrasonic zones for detecting double or multiple feeds and the variable throughput speed, which can be adjusted in steps, ensure maximum productivity and at the same time the necessary care when handling your documents. The unique Slow-Down function allows you to gently digitize even sensitive documents.

Dust in the air? No problem! Unlike conventional document scanners, the SCAMIG 210’s capture units are perfectly protected from dust and paper debris. Dirt and dust are transported through slots into the collection bin. In addition, the optical system is protected against dust and damage by hardened special glass with a 3-year warranty.

ONE SOFTWARE

Easy Scan Professional, the scanning software of the archive scanner, serves as an interface for both scanners. Hence, you will always get all scans from both devices in the correct order within the scan software and can export and feed them together into further workflows.

Time-consuming steps such as merging individual scans from different devices are obsolete. This significantly increases productivity without sacrificing quality and care in handling your documents.

Color-accurate directly from the camera:

True-color color management is a unique feature. Directly from the camera, it is possible to generate color-accurate scans according to the color spaces sRGB, Adobe 1998 RGB, ECI RGB V1 and ECI RGB V2 and thus easily meet all requirements of digitization guidelines, specifications and standards.

The big advantage of True-Color: Unlike the creation of an ICC profile which is calculated by a calibration software using a 24-bit color scan of an X-Rite Color Checker, True-Color takes advantage of performing all calculations and adjustments in the internal imaging area of the camera with a color and analysis depth of 48 bits. Colors are hit even more precisely and signal noise is minimized.

The result: METAMORFOZE, FADGI and ISO / TS 19264-1: 2017 compliant scan results.
